  • Dress appropriately. It’s better to be over- than under-dressed for a job interview. Never wear jeans.
  • Arrive early, ten to fifteen minutes in advance.
  • Smile and be polite to everyone you meet. You never know who’s standing next to you in the elevator.
  • Be confident, not arrogant.
  • Don’t smoke or chew gum. Try to control nervous mannerisms like playing with jewelry.
  • Maintain eye contact with the interviewer. Don’t look around the room or out the window.
  • Demonstrate your energy and enthusiasm about the job and the company
  • Use relevant examples to sell an employer on your skills
  • Answer questions completely, but don’t ramble. Try to limit your answers to about a minute or two, at the most
  • Have questions ready for the interviewer
  • Never make negative comments about previous employers. You never know who they know.
  • Be honest about your accomplishments
  • Ask for the job directly. Don’t just say you’re interested, ask to be hired.
  • Send a thank-you note within 24-hours
